Jewish Art Always Makes the Best Gift

For a good number of people, it is rather difficult to determine the value of art without understanding exactly what it is or stands for. In simple terms, it is important to note that the true net worth of anything can only be comprehended by those who appreciate and acknowledge the in depth role that the item or work depicts. This is to say that a single piece could have different evaluations from different perspectives depending on the circumstances or the person evaluating it.

Jesse James Kat Von D: Celebrity Couple of the Week

This week we heard grumblings of a split between Jesse James and Kat Von D. Has the romance between the two already fizzled? Nope! In fact, a wedding is soon on the horizon, and we’ve chosen them as our Celebrity Couple of the Week. After Jesse James’ scandal a la Tiger Woods style and eventual split from Sandra Bullock last year, it seemed that things kept going downhill for the West Coast Choppers CEO. Life would start getting better for the bad boy, as he soon started dating LA Ink star Kat Von D. They were definitely a match, much more believable than James’ pairing with Bullock. But you know the old adage, opposites attract, so that explained that. In January, Jesse and Kat became engaged, with Kat tweeting, “I guess the ‘kat’ is outta the bag, eh? Thank you for all the wonderful, loving congratulations from you all.. Overwhelmed with joy right now!” Fast forward to the present and rumors of the two going their separate ways. They spoke to PEOPLE, where Kat addressed the rumors, saying, “That’s the furthest thing from the truth.” James chimed in as well, telling the mag: “That is absolutely not true. We’re still [...]

Top Tips to Learn to Play the Guitar

Parachute is a pretty young pop rock band, as well as its members. After graduating from college in 2008, some enthusiastic dreamers formed the band that was first called Sparky's Flaw until one of the biggest skincare brand - Nivea - asked the change of the name. And so, Sparky's Flaw became Parachute, a "blue-eyed soul, adult pop, Maroon 5-style faux-funk: it's the Goldilocks of pop-rock, neither too hot nor too cold, but just right" as Fly Magazine depicted it, that started a massive attack for popularity and fame.

first photo of sacha baron cohen in the dictator

Good to see you again, Sacha, but you look different…are those sunglasses new? Ha!

Check out the newly released photo (above) of Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator!

As we mentioned back in May, here's what the film's storyline is about:

"A heartless dictator finds he's been mutinied against by his number two man and replaced in power by an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike. (Sacha will be playing dual roles). As he wanders the streets, he finds himself in an organic food store and meets the owner (Anna Faris). Her character will show the dictator a new way of life and perhaps a little romance!"

What do U think of Sacha's new look for The Dictator?

Billboard Music Awards Background

Acoustic guitars have been around for over 4000 years, which is quite amazing seeing as they haven't fallen out of popularity as the main lead instrument of choice in modern bands. Historians are still unsure whether the oldest form of guitar originates from Spain or goes back even further to the reign of the Romans.

The Health Benefits Of Popular Karaoke Songs

On the Internet, you should experience no difficulty finding sites to buy popular karaoke songs and if you have temporary cash flow problems, YouTube showcases a large variety of karaoke videos you can view and use for free. You could find the task a little challenging, though, if your musical tastes run off the beaten track and what you really want to perfect, is an album track from an obscure 1980s band that did not quite rise to stardom. The answer is to create your own karaoke tracks and there are several online tools that can help you to complete the task.

4 Easy Tips To Help You Promote Your Music

Having your own recording studio is a wonderful thing, it gives you freedom of musical exploration and creativity and there are no expensive fees involved like there would be if you were recording at a big major studio - it is completely yours. This is where some important decisions come into play on what your budget is and how big you actually want the studio itself, because home studios don't have...

New Parents P!nk Carey Hart Bring Newborn Willow Sage Home From The Hospital

Last Friday we learned the happy news that singer P!nk and her motocross motorcycling hubby Carey Hart gave birth to their first born child, a daughter they named Willow Sage. Today we learn that the new mommy and daddy brought home their bouncing bundle of joy from the hospital. The front gate of the Hart [...]

For various reasons, our plans for yesterday didn’t really pan out so David and I ended up staying home all day long … which, in retrospect, was really for the best. As a result of all that couch time I had, I finally succumbed and started watching the new HBO series Game of Thrones that seemingly everyone is talking about. I have to admit, at first I thought the series looked a little too much like Xena: Warrior Princess for my liking but after watching the first 8 eps in a row, I’m happy to say I love the show entirely.

Truth be told, I actually fell in love with the series after episode one. Even tho I really had no idea what was going on, I liked the pace and feel of the show. While I love some fantasy fiction, I’m not a huge fan of the genre overall … thankfully, Game of Thrones doesn’t feel so much like a fantasy tale. It kinda feels more like historical fiction. There are a lot of great actors in Game of Thrones with great parts to play. I found it very easy to watch the string of 8 eps in a row without getting tired, bored or confused about anything. I am really intrigued by where the story seems to be going and I found myself dying for another ep after I finished the newest, 8th episode. If the show sounds interesting to you, I suggest you check out the premiere ep. That ep will give you a good taste for the show and you’ll prolly know right off if Game of Thrones is for you. I got hooked, you may get hooked too.

So yeah … that was my Sunday. Today, David and I will be trekking down to Anaheim, CA to spend the evening/night celebrating Ollie’s birthday at Disneyland. I’m ashamed to admit that it’s been far too long since I’ve been to Disney so I’m excited. The weather is cooler today … hopefully that will make for a really pleasant day at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Did Taylor Lautner Help Aziz Ansari Rob A Bank?

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Taylor Lautner is in "30 Minutes or Less." Or at least that's what Aziz Ansari wants you to think.

Obviously the MTV Movie Awards isn't your average awards show. I don't think I need to get into the list of reasons why, aside from bringing up my favorite nominations category: Best Jaw Dropping Moment. In addition to our categories setting us apart from the envelope-opening pack, the overall stage design for the show is always an edgy, eye-catching departure from the glitzy, golden themes in shows like the Oscars or Golden Globes.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the set design and man, is it a doozy. The Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, has been transformed into a wild, jungle-ish fantasyland filled with psychedelic props like caves, butterflies and enough LED lights to make Times Square sizzle.

Executive Producer Mark Burnett told MTV News that the inspiration for the design is "a little bit of a 'Lord of the Rings,' our nod to that part of the movie industry. ... And our production designer, Roy, [this is] his nod to fantasy in the movies."

Burnett went on to say that given the popularity of fantastical blockbusters like "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," "I think there's been a lot of movies in the last few years that are very fantasy-driven," he said, adding that the visionary stylings of Tim Burton's were also sources of inspiration for the stage design.

There are, of course, a variety of ways to interpret the lushness of the design elements. "It could be 4 a.m., you've had too much to drink [and] it's the end of the party," Burnett playfully suggested.

Whoa … did you know that Judge Judith Sheindlin, better known to the world as Judge Judy, had a life outside of her television courtroom? It’s true … Judy and her husband Jerry Sheindlin actually live pretty normal lives when she is not bizzy doling out harsh justice on her syndicated courtroom TV show Judge Judy. In fact, the couple were spotted walking hand in hand in NYC this week … lookin’ like any other couple out for a walk.

I don’t know why but I am TOTALLY fascinated by these photos of Judy out in public. I mean, I realize she doesn’t live in that courtroom but seeing her out and about … sans robe … it’s weird. Judy and Jerry look happy tho (and why not, the woman is rolling in millions over the popularity of her TV show). I guess it’s nice to see the couple out and about like … well … normal people.

Last night I met up with my friend Jen and her friends Stacey and Mark at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA to see Cinderella live in concert. Now, back in the day — 25 years ago, when Cinderella first came onto the scene — I was too young to be allowed to see the band in concert. While I was never a huge fan of the band, I did like some of their music and enjoyed a bit that hair/metal music scene. Last night, on the band’s 25th anniversary tour, I finally got to see the band in action.

The show as no fluff, no frills … just straight rock and roll the entire time. The band played all of their hits and they sounded pretty damn amazing, too. If you closed your eyes, and I’m not even kidding, you would think you were rockin’ out to a Cinderella concert back in 1986. Of course, when you opened your eyes you’d see that all of those headbangers from back in the day have grown up to become, well, much older headbangers ;) The show as ridiculously fun and we had a blast. After the show, we made our way to The Standard for some late night eats and then called it a night. So fun.

Tonight, David and I are seeing X-Men: First Class and then I’m going out to Key Club to see kidneythieves live in concert. It’s the weekend (again), y’all! Enjoy!!

An Acoustic Drum Kit Versus an Electronic Drum Kit

Nowadays, people really enjoy listening to music, whether it is with traditional CD's, iPods, or even on the internet. There are many websites that offer online music selections. Most of the high quality tracks come from websites that let you pay for the service. There are also some websites that let you download songs for free, but these are usually from the independent artists. You could also listen to music online using internet radio. However, the disadvantage with this type of music is that you would only get to listen to the tracks. You won't be able to save them.

Rihanna has unleashed a new music video for her song Man Down — the latest single released from her album Loud — and in the vid, Ri Ri is seen shooting a man dead after he physically assaults her. To be honest, the song itself has a lighthearted feel to it … one that doesn’t seem to match the violence featured in the clip. Check it out below.

You know, I’ve heard the song many times and yes, she does talk about exerting revenge on a man in the song but, again, the upbeat, sing/songiness of the track makes Man Down sound … happy? I dunno how to describe it. The video is interesting, it starts out with the shooting and then tells the story of what led up to the shooting. The alternating of pretty scenes with the violence is obviously intentional. I honestly don’t know if I like the video or not. After watching this video, I can’t help but think about the physical attack that Chris Brown unleashed on her a couple of years ago … that incident can’t not have been on her mind when she made this video. HMMM. What do you think of this video for Man Down?

Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt Could Wed Before Long!

Hollywood’s biggest couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, may actually get married before too long. You will be surprised to find out why they might make a change of plans. It sounds like my favorite celebrity couple might have to put their political beliefs on pause and simply get married. PEOPLE Magazine reported today that they originally wanted to wait until the entire country was given marriage equality before actually tying the knot, but now that their kids are starting to get older, it might not be possible. Brad admitted to the mag that the kids are starting to ask questions about marriage, and said “it’s something we’ve got to look at.” As if we couldn’t love them anymore! I totally agree with the idea, but mostly because I would love, love, love to see their wedding photos. I’m sure some friends of their children have mommies and daddies that are married, and they are obviously smart kids. Children have such curious minds, and they probably want to know what is going on with their own parents. I’m guessing it’s too complicated to try to explain the whole gay marriage concept to them at their age, so instead, they are [...]

Jennifer Lopez Video Footage WILL Be Released

Well folks, it looks like we will be seeing that footage of Jennifer Lopez from her marriage to Ojani Noa after all! Noa found a loophole and is able to distribute the video. I am telling you, this shiz better be good, cause I am tired of hearing about it. If Jenny from the block is making much a do about nothing, I’m gonna be pissed! We heard about this footage a while back. It supposedly features J-Lo’s rise to fame, and her marriage to Ojani. Due to a confidentiality agreement he signed, he was unable to distribute it. But he found a loop hole – selling it! He sold it to his current girlfriend, and a judge ruled she is able to distribute it. There are no sex scenes so don’t get your hopes up that way, but there is apparently some saucy footage of her flashing her girly bits and other “deviant behavior.” “This is among other nudity on her part in the now 21 hours of home movies that we have so far recovered.” Jennifer has fought hard to keep this footage from going public, but it seems her lawyers didn’t cover all of the bases. If you are anything like me, Old School Advent Speakers are about more than just a great bookshelf speaker. They are about nostalgia - a time in our lives when things were simpler, music was better and the world wasn't as complicated as it is today. The affordable nature of the Large Advent Speakers only reinforces this notion - somethings are best when cheap and simple.
