Victoria Beckham Loses Her Cool While Parenting Her Kiddies
After our fun-filled day by the beach, Darion, his mom, David and I made our way to the AMC Theater at Century City to see Source Code. Now, I’ve had mixed feelings about the film from the very first time I saw the trailer a few months ago. On the one hand, the trailer didn’t make the film look all that good … on other hand, well, Jake Gyllenhaal is in it so …. you can see how I was torn. When I learned that Duncan Jones (David Bowie‘s son) directed it, I was sold. Overall, I liked Source Code very much … tho, for me, the ending left much to be desired.
I’ve heard some people say that Source Code reminds them of Inception and while I can see how some people can make that connection, I totally do not think the movies are all that similar. The storylines are totally different and there really isn’t all that much overlap thematically. In Source Code, we are are taken on a journey that tries to make us understand the concept of alternate realities and for the most part, I was on board with what the movie was trying to say … but the ending, I’m sorry, no I just didn’t buy it. I’ve watched my fair share of sci-fi programming that has given me a “working knowledge” of time travel, alternate realities, other dimensions etc. (and by “working knowledge” I mean, I’ve come to believe in a set of fictional rules that seem feasible to me if time travel, alternate realities, etc. actually existed). The ending of Source Code just did not work for me in the framework of my “working knowledge” of sci-fi temporal travel so … yeah, no, I didn’t like the ending. The rest of the movie, tho, I thought was inventive and entertaining. As much as I love Jakey poo, I felt he overacted a bit in some scenes but not enough to turn me off entirely. The support cast was fine but they were like background wallpaper … none of them really added anything to the story that stood out for me. I wish Source Code wasn’t a PG-13 film because the action felt a bit watered down. But, again, the inventiveness of the story, the twists and turns and overall plotline really entertained me. I don’t expect this film will do gangbusters at the box office but it’s worth seeing. If you miss it in theaters, you’ll be just fine seeing it on DVD or on cable.
Did any of y’all see Source Code this weekend? What did you think?

Beware! Illegally Downloading Music Is On Its Way Out!
The future looks bleak for all those who would rather download their music for free on the Internet illegally than pay iTunes $1.29 per song.
It was unanimously decided today in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee to give the Justice Department the power to take down illegally offered copyrighted content for sale, download, or streaming.

Or the filmmakers of Giallo are screwed.
In Los Angeles this morning, a judge ruled in favor of actor Adrien Brody, who was suing the producer of the horror film for not being fully paid for the role.
In the official ruling, the filmamkers are forbidden to use Adrien's likeness until he is paid. Therefore, the movie can not be distributed, sold or even show in anyway until there is $640,000 more dollars in his pocket.
Wow! That's a lot to jip the guy. We'd be pissed too.
Better get a move on if you ever want that movie to see the light of day!

Andy Warhol Self-Portrait Sells For $17 Million As London Art Boom Continues
Last month, an Andy Warhol portrait of Mao Zedong from late actor Dennis Hopper's collection sold for $302,500.
While that seemed like a lot of money at the time, it's NOTHING compared to what art dealer Larry Gagosian paid for a Warhol self portrait at Christie's on Wednesday.
Gagosian dropped 10.8 million pounds, or $17 million, on [...]
Well, they're taking the news pretty well!
In light of the news that Paris Hilton's $3,200 birthday cake was stolen by a drunken party crasher, the company that baked it, Lucid Absinthe, has issued the following statement:
âIt is very unfortunate that someone stole the cake from Parisâs birthday party. We had the cake designed especially for Paris with Lucid in the batter and a beautiful representation of Lucid's artwork on it, which she had requested to meet the Moulin Rouge theme of the party. Weâre happy that Paris and her guests were able to enjoy a night of Lucid cocktails, including the Paris Lemonade / Paris frozen Lucid Sorbet â and only wish that the guests could have tried her delicious cake. As for Paz, feel free to connect with us on the Lucid Absinthe Facebook page, where we would love to hear your side of the story and thoughts on the cake!â
Wowza! Sounds like they're just more concerned about getting feedback about how it tasted!
Ha! We still don't condone what happened, but at least there aren't too many hard feelings - at least on their end!
Thoughts??

As we reported a bit ago, there is a new street artist in town… El Lay's very own Banksy: EPELOG!
He's creating a buzz around town, putting his work up near that of Banksy's. It makes sense, too, seeing as how EPELOG is a big Banksy fan, and the places could already be easily recognizable to get some exposure!
The great thing about EPELOG so far is that his work pays a subtle homage to his influences, but he captures a feeling all his own!
The picture above went up at Sunset and Queens, how appropriate, and features US!!!
Yes, that's Perezzers!
How cool is that?!
The piece is called "Love Thyself" because, as he tells us, "You can't love anyone untill you love thyself."

Howard Stern Denies Feud With Piers Morgan
Could have fooled us!

"What, is there a feud? [...]
How incredibly disheartening.
A bill was introduced in Utah that required all publicly funded programs, laws, and regulations, to ensure they exclude families headed by gay and lesbian couples.
Ugh! Ridiculous! Absolutely absurd!
And it only gets worse when you actually read the bill, written by Rep. LaVar Christensen.
The bill states that "marriage and family predate all governments and are supported by and consistent with the Laws of Nature and God, the Creator and Supreme Judge of the World, affirmed in the nation’s founding Declaration of Independence." It also says, "families anchored by both a father and a mother, fidelity within marriage, and enduring devotion to the covenants and responsibilities of marriage are the desired norm."
Screw your desired norms. This is America, where everyone should have the right to be treated equally. We shudder to think the kind of damage this is going to do to poor people living in Utah.
Shameful! Equality for all!

First Listen: Jennifer Lopez, ‘Venus’ & ‘On The Floor’
Yesterday was a pretty fantastic day here in SoCal. The 80 degree weather was so freaking amazing that I was inspired to do something that I have never done before. In the almost 5 years that I’ve lived in LA, I’ve never once set foot in Runyon Canyon Park to make the hike up the mountain. Despite the popularity (and relative ease) of the place, I’ve never wanted to make the trek … until yesterday.
I casually mentioned to David that we should go and he jumped on that moment of weakness and insisted that we go. I am so glad that we did … the weather was glorious and the hike was actually very fun. I don’t know that I’ll make a habit of hiking Runyon Canyon but we did have fun yesterday. As a treat, David took me to Amoeba Records in Hollywood, CA afterward so that I could get a few new records. I picked up Quiet Riot, Berlin, Missing Persons, Bon Jovi (Slippery When Wet AND New Jersey) each for about $4. Great score!!
Last night, after a bit of resting, David and I met up with our good friends Darion, David and his boyfriend Ray for a night of dancing at Cherry Pop! I was adamant that I had to dance to Britney Spears‘s Hold It Against Me and thanks to Darion, I got my wish last night:
As the night wore on, the song never came on … so Darion (with all of his charms) went up to the DJ and asked him to play the song for me for my 21st birthday. Voila! Best.Night.Ever.
Tonight, David and I are heading over to our friends Ollie and Caleb’s place to have a record party/Golden Globes/drinkfest. I hope your Sunday is just as rad as mine promises to be :) xo

Golden Globes 2011 LIVE BLOG!
The Golden Globes air tomorrow, Sunday, January 16th at 8 p.m. ET — have you filled out your ballot? For those of you who think the show is all about fashion faux pas or the flubbing of lines, we've compiled a handy primer to savvy you up a bit. Don't forget to log on tomorrow and follow our live commentary during the show!
Who's responsible for Golden Globe nominations and votes?
That'd be the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — a group of 90 international journalists who report on the U.S. film industry. The HFPA represents over 55 countries outside the U.S., and new membership admittance is restricted to five per year (with MPAA accreditation and yearly clip submissions required to maintain status). Every awards show has its own exclusive voting base — therefore, the Globes' viewpoint is unique in that its nominations and winners are chosen by foreign journalists.
For means of comparison, examples of voting pools for a few other key awards shows include: SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild members only), Independent Spirit Awards (eligible only for productions with budgets of $20 million or less, chosen by previous Spirit Awards nominees, Film Independent and Independent Feature Project Members), The BAFTAs (6,500 members of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts — 5,000 in the U.K. and 1,500 in the U.S.), The Academy Awards (also known as the Oscars — governed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which boasts over 6,000 film artists and professionals), and various guild awards (such as directors, producers, actors — all voted on by folks enrolled in and exemplifying the specified skill sets pertaining to each guild).
The skinny: A Golden Globe win means you've been honored by critics. A BAFTA win means you've been commended by authorities in the U.K. A SAG win awards folks within the Screen Actors Guild. An Independent Spirit Award highlights how very much one can do with a small budget, as decided upon by experts in the Independent filmmaking world. A Guild win means you've been chosen by a professional with the same expertise as you. An Academy win means you've been recognized by a mixture of various colleagues (actors, directors, editors, writers, producers, etc).
Fun facts from Globes past
The most Globes won by a film: five — shared by "Doctor Zhivago"(1966), "Love Story" (1971), "The Godfather" (1973), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1976) and "A Star is Born" (1977)
Most career Globes wins by a female: seven — Meryl Streep
Most career Globes wins by a male: six —Jack Nicholson
Youngest winner of a Golden Globe: 9-year-old Ricky Schroeder, Best New Star of the Year for "The Champ" (1980)
Oldest winner of a Golden Globe: 80-year-old Jessica Tandy, Best Actress for "Driving Miss Daisy" (1990)
Most individual Globe nominations: 25 for Meryl Streep and 22 for Jack Lemmon
Most nominations in one year: Jamie Foxx in 2005 (for his turns in "Ray," "Collateral" and "Redemption")
The only film to win all five major Globes categories (Best Motion Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay): "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest" (1976)
How do the Golden Globes differ from the Academy Awards?
The Globes honor achievements in 25 categories — 14 for motion pictures, 11 for television. The Academy Awards (Oscars) honor achievements in 24 categories, all film-centric. The Globes separate movie nominations by Comedy/Musical and Drama, while the Oscars pool all cinematic subject matter together.
Additionally, the ceremonies themselves offer polar opposite atmospheres. The Globes are more relaxed, with attendees grouped at tables where they're served food and champagne (this has made for some very interesting — albeit inebriated — occurrences and acceptance speeches). The Oscars are more formal, seating guests side-by-side in a theater without food or drink service.
Does winning a Golden Globe mean an Oscar is next?
The odds of winning an Oscar are a bit of a science, usually dependent upon the results of many of the season's major awards shows (such as the SAGS, BAFTAs and the various guilds). The Globes have historically been known to predict Academy Award winners, though there have been key upsets in previous years. Check out RopeOfSilicon's handy roundup of the past 25 years of Globes/Oscar winners to get an idea of the odds.
